Understanding Brings Conversion Part 1- God Speaks in Parables

(Mark 4:10-12) But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. And He
said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of
God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables, so
that ‘ Seeing they may see and not perceive, And hearing they may
hear and not understand; Lest they should
turn, And their sins be forgiven them.’”

This is a beautiful verse; Jesus is speaking the Word from the prophet Isaiah. Many at times when I preach the Word of God people wonder why is he talking the Word of God the whole day. Many people wonder when I go to church there is not much change in my life. I am reading the Word of God everyday, I pray everyday but there is not much change or
victory in my life. Now look at what Jesus says,

Now we believe that when Jesus spoke He spoke in parables. When he spoke in parables the people heard the parable of the Sower and the Seed and went home not understanding. But He said to his disciples to you has been given the power to understand the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom of God. Who are the people to whom Jesus is saying to you has been given the power to understand the mysteries and the secrets of the kingdom of God? It’s not for everyone, because out of the great crowd some of them went back home. He is speaking in parables so even as they see and see they will not perceive and even if they hear and hear they will not hear because if they
perceive, hear and understand their sins will be forgiven.

So why do you think Jesus is speaking in Parables?
Speaking in parables will make it easy to understand or difficult to understand? It will make a cloud and it hides the real truth and makes it difficult to understand. You see over here the twelve disciples and a few others came and asked Jesus when He was alone to teach and make them understand.

In other words Jesus is saying only those who spend time with Him and talk to Him and have fellowship with Him to them He gives the power to understand the mysteries and secrets of the kingdom of God.
So it’s very important to develop a relationship which Jesus, many people want to have a relationship with God because they want a blessing, a house, a job, their spouse to be blessed, their finances to be blessed, their children to be
blessed. So the very relationship with God is only to get needs fulfilled. Here
is Jesus talking about relationship, why is that so many people come for the
retreats listen to God’s Word so many of them who attend every retreat in town
but no change in their life. Conversion takes place in a person’s heart only
when He understands the Word of God, that’s why He says seeing that they may
see and not perceive hearing that they may hear and not understand. Only those
who understand the Word of God, their lives are never the same they begin to
change and now they are seeking the Lord not His riches. That is why it is
important to understand the Word of God because that is what brings
conversation in your life.

Coming for the retreat doesn’t bring a change, the Word of God is proclaimed from morning to evening so that you understand.
Once you understand and apply the Word of God not only your life is changed but
you go around being a blessing in the life of others.

So what did you learn today?

· God speaks in parables. Only those who fellowship with God, to him will
God reveal his mysteries and secrets of the Kingdom of God.
· Understanding and applying the Word of Godbrings change and conversion, not only in your life but in the lives of others around you.

Confession of the day:
All nations shall call
me blessed because I am a blessing wherever I go, when I go God’s blessing
follow me sometimes blessings overtakes me and before I reach are already
poured. Thank You Jesus, praise You Jesus (Genesis 39:11)

Almighty Father, we make
this prayer through Your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
