Ambassador of Christ Part – 2 M’t:3:1-2: In those days came John theBaptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, and saying, Repent ye: for thekingdom of heaven is at hand. Eachone of us has been given a ministry of reconciliation. In the New Testament, John the Baptist waspreaching about the Kingdom of heaven, and exhorting the people to repent fortheir sins. Then he baptized them in the river Jordan. Jesus took over fromJohn, he preached the Word wherever he went, teaching and healing people. By his teachings, many people had a change ofheart, repented, changed their lives and were accepted into the kingdom of God. Colossians 1:13 – 14 For he has rescued us from the dominion ofdarkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, inwhom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Godis ever willing and ever ready to forgive us – anything and everything – and heremembers our sins no more. Jesus bore every sin of mankind, when He died onthe cross for us. Some of you may then ask – if Jesus has forgiven our everysin why do I need to go for Confession? I will explain this to you through thisexample. When your dad deposits a certain amount of money in your bank account, you receive a bank statement stating your bank balance. Now the money belongsto you. Only when you have written a cheque or when you use your ATM card at themachine, you will actually get the money in your hands. Similarly God has already given us Hisforgiveness. So, when we make a conscious decision to repent and ask forforgiveness we believe in faith that we are forgiven. Now our decision matcheswith God’s and that forgiveness of God will manifest in our lives. Jesusfills up the gap between the Father and us, and by taking our sins uponHimself, he presents new creatures to God – the adopted children of God. Acts 2:38 – And Peter said to them,“repent and be baptised every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for theforgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
